A heart-rending love story of two young people who were meant to be together. When Amber, the fifteen-year-old daughter of a strict Victorian pastor, falls pregnant she is banished from her home near London and loses touch with Sam, the father of her unborn baby. Amber makes a new life in America, and her interior decorating skills take her all over the world where she meets Geoff Peters, the new man in her life, and settles with him in South Africa as his wife. Through unknown sources working in the universe she eventually crosses paths with the love of her life, Sam, and her wonderful life with Geoff is thrown into utter chaos by a chain of uncontrollable events.
