An Irontail Scorpion
The Civil War between the rebel Sudan's People Liberation Movement Army (SPLM/A) and the Government of the Sudan (GOS) has lasted for twenty-one years. John Deng, an uneducated herdsman, is tricked into joining the rebellion. Throughout the 21 year struggle, Deng's character changes drastically and he comes develop his own opinions and stances on the rebellion. Neither his objections nor his support for the cause carry influence with the leaders of the movement, as he is merely a decorated soldier without any formal education or military rank. This story tells of the struggles between John Deng and his military commanders and one man's account of the events in Sudan during this tumultuous period of struggle.
